PI NETWORK: Common KYC Issues When Submitting KYC Applications - Handling Accounts of Deceased Individuals

@Jerry King Jul 24 2024

Hello everyone! Today, I will write about common KYC issues and how to handle accounts of deceased individuals in the future.

✅A. Common KYC Issues:

1. Incorrect Name

  a. Incorrect Name in English: When creating a Pi Network account, you need to enter both your English and Vietnamese names. If you enter your Vietnamese name in the English name field, your KYC will be stuck.

  b. Account Name Different from KYC Name: If the account name and the name in the KYC do not match, for example, Nguyễn A and Nguyễn Văn A, the KYC application will be held back. These cases can be easily appealed. (Image 1)

(a, b : When you submit an appeal, it is easy to approve.)

  c. Completely Different Account Name and KYC Name

  - Example: The account name is Nguyễn Văn A but the KYC document is Lý Tiểu Long. This case usually happens for two reasons:

    - Careless Account Creation: The user must take responsibility.

    - Using Fake Documents: It is recommended to create a new account to avoid trouble. (Image 3)

2. Blurry Document Images

  - Old Phones: Taking photos of documents with old phones can cause blurry images, leading to the KYC application being held back.

3. Selecting the Wrong Type of Document

  a. Document Type: Selecting Passport but submitting an ID card or a driver’s license.

 b. Incorrect Country or Address

  - Country: Entering a country that does not match the actual country.

  - Address: Entering an incorrect address, such as Mỹ Tho instead of Mỹ Đình.

4. Verifier Errors

  - New Verifiers: They may make mistakes due to their inability to distinguish between real and fake accounts.

✅B. Handling Accounts of Deceased Individuals:

Regarding the accounts of deceased individuals, first of all, my condolences to you. However, Pi Core Team does not yet have clear policies regarding account inheritance. If you are managing such an account, you have two options:

  - Do Nothing: Stop mining, keep the death certificate and identity documents for future inheritance submission.

  - Silent Mining: High risk, as you may be required to verify a living entity in the future.

If you encounter any other KYC issues, please share them for other pioneers to reference.
